House Bill 1319, "Castle Doctrine" legislation, sponsored by State Representative Todd Porter (R-34), has passed the North Dakota House of Representatives and has been referred to the Senate Natural Resources Committee. Your help is needed in passing this critical self-defense legislation. HB 1319 allows an individual to use deadly force in the home, place of business, or vehicle when life or safety is threatened.
HB 1319 also provides civil and criminal immunity for those who defend themselves from criminal attack. Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, State Senator Stanley Lyson (R-1), is considered to be the swing vote needed to pass this important piece of legislation. The hearing is set for Friday, March 16.
