As the Legislature moves into the last week of session, House Bill 588 by Representative John Heaton (D-55) has now passed the House and is awaiting consideration in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Also, Senate Bill 111 by Senator Stuart Ingle (R-27), has passed the Senate and is awaiting consideration by the House Business and Industry Committee.
Both NRA-backed bills would allow Right-to-Carry permit holders to protect themselves in establishments that sell alcohol for off-premises consumption (grocery stores, convenience stores, and superstores such as WalMart and Sams.). Please contact members of these two committees and urge them to support the bill that is within their jurisdiction.
