On Wednesday April 8, the House Judiciary Committee had a lengthy hearing with 17 bills on the agenda, the vast majority of which were anti-gun. The committee voted to “hold for further study” all firearm bills that were considered, which is a common procedural move. These bills remain active and can be moved by leadership with little notice. The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to hold a similar "gun hearing" in the near future. Your immediate assistance is needed! Please contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and request a NO vote on this entire package of bills.
The worst of the worst included:
H.7035 adopts a gun rationing scheme where government permission is only given to buy one gun a month.
H.8073 adds possession to last year’s semi-auto gun ban. There is no grandfathering, and the legislation creates a felony with harsh penalties. Those who fail to get rid of their guns face a maximum penalty of $10,000 and a 10-year prison sentence
H.8071 prohibits the sale or transfer of ammunition unless the purchaser successfully undergoes a background check. This legislation would force the state of Rhode Island to create a database as NICS cannot be used for anything other than firearms transfers.
H.8075 forces anyone who owns firearms to maintain an insurance policy of at least $1,000,000. This is all part of their scheme to make exercising your constitutional rights completely unaffordable.
It is likely that the Senate Judiciary Committee will have a similar hearing which could occur at any time now. Your immediate assistance is needed! Please contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and request a NO vote on this entire package of bills.
