Fairfax, Va. – On Wednesday, NRA's Political Victory Fund proudly announced that 80 percent of the PAC's endorsed candidates won their primary election contests. Most significantly, the majority of the NRA-PVF endorsed incumbents who were the subject of false and malicious attacks on their Second Amendment voting record were victorious in their races on Tuesday, including Sen. Sally Doty, Sen. Sean Tindell, Sen. Will Longwitz, Rep. Toby Barker, Rep. Joey Hood and Rep. Ray Rogers.
A group calling themselves the National Association of Gun Rights (NAGR) targeted these pro-gun incumbents for weeks with misleading and deceptive direct mailpieces, social media ads and robo-calls concerning the candidates' position on firearms issues. In the past, NAGR had been cited for illegally soliciting donations in Mississippi and had also violated state lobbying regulations. Last week, the Mississippi Secretary of State called NAGR's mailings "illegal" and "gutless". "NRA-PVF pulled out all the stops to set the record straight on these officeholders' records in support of the Second Amendment," said Chris Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Gun owners weren't fooled by NAGR's lies and one of these days, their blatant disregard for the law will catch up to them. For now, the truth and the proven supporters of our rights prevailed on Tuesday."
