The Mississippi Legislature adjourned Sine Die yesterday, marking the end of the 2026 legislative session.
During the session, lawmakers considered measures impacting the rights of Mississippi gun owners. Notably, no anti-Second Amendment legislation was enacted this year.
House Bill 1793 was the only Second Amendment-related measure passed this session. It exempts retail sales of firearm safes from state sales tax during Mississippi’s annual Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday, held each year on the last weekend in August, and takes effect July 1, 2026.
