The National Rifle Association issued a statement saying Markell was less interested in protecting children from gun violence than in pushing an anti gun agenda. The group noted that the Delaware Constitution affirms the right for a person to bear arms "for the defense of self, family, home and State, and for hunting and recreational use."
"The law abiding people of Delaware who responsibly exercise their right to own a gun are being demonized by Governor Markell and the Delaware lawmakers pushing this pervasive anti gun agenda," the NRA said.
