As early as Monday, March 12, both chambers of the Missouri General Assembly may consider Senate Bill 257 and House Bill 669, which would protect our Second Amendment rights during a state of emergency by prohibiting any government agency from regulating the lawful sale, possession, transfer, transport and carry of firearms.
Senate Bill 257, sponsored by State Senator Kevin Engler (R-3), and House Bill 669, sponsored by State Representative David Pearce (R-121), are both scheduled to be heard on the floor of their respective chambers.
Please contact your State Senator and State Representative at (573) 751-3824 and encourage them to protect your right to keep and bear arms by supporting and voting for SB 257 and HB669 in their current form!
Also, on Wednesday March 7, the House General Laws Committee passed House Bill 462, another critically important pro-gun measure. House Bill 462, sponsored by State Representative Brian Munzlinger (R-1) will repeal Missouri's ill-conceived and outdated "permit to acquire" a handgun statute. By repealing the archaic and arbitrary permit requirement, handgun transactions conducted through a licensed dealer would be subject to a NICS check, as is currently the case for rifle and shotgun transactions.
Please contact your State Representative at (573)-751-3659 and urge him or her to support and vote for House Bill 462!
