Anti-Gun Legislation Scheduled for Senate Committee Hearing Wednesday in Virginia!

Tuesday, January 16, 2007

Please Contact the Senate Courts of Justice Committee Today!

During the last few legislative sessions, we have witnessed several attempts by gun-ban advocates to eliminate gun shows in the Commonwealth, and the 2007 session is no different.

Senate Bill 827, introduced by State Senator Jeannemarie Devolites Davis (R-34), would require all firearms transactions that take place at gun shows be subject to background checks, require gun show promoters to register all vendors (private citizens as well as licensed dealers), and maintain that registry for four years following the date of the gun show.

Please do not allow this thinly veiled attempt to abolish gun shows in Virginia to go unanswered.

SB827 is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. in the Senate Courts of Justice Committee.

Please contact the Senators listed below and politely, but strongly, urge them to protect lawful gun shows in Virginia by opposing SB827 in committee on Wednesday, January 17:

Senator Frederick Quayle (R-13), (804) 698-7513, district13@sov.state.va.us

Senator Thomas Norment (R-3), (804) 698-7503, district03@sov.state.va.us

Senator John Edwards (D-21), (804) 698-7521, district21@sov.state.va.us

Senator Nick Rerras (R-6), (804) 698-7506, district06@sov.state.va.us

Senator Harry Blevins (R-14), (804) 698-7514, district14@sov.state.va.us
