A district judge interrupted the prosecutor’s closing statements Nov. 14 to dismiss charges against a Perry County, Pa., teacher who carried a rifle onto the grounds of New Bloomfield Elementary School. “He didn’t realize he had a gun on school property. The district attorney will probably refile, but I discharge the case,” District Judge Donald “Pete” Howell said.
