As early as today, the Louisiana Senate could consider Senate Bill 274 which seeks to restrict the constitutional right of law-abiding adults aged 18 to 20 to acquire some of the most commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms for self-defense, target shooting, and hunting. It is more important than ever that you contact your state Senator at 225-342-2040 and strongly urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 274.
This legislation is demeaning to Louisiana’s young adults who are otherwise allowed to vote, join the military, and exercise every other constitutionally guaranteed right.

Any legislative proposal that seeks to prevent law-abiding adults aged 18 to 20 years old from acquiring certain firearms deprives them of their constitutional right to self-defense.

Tomorrow, the Senate Judiciary B Committee is scheduled to consider gun control legislation, Senate Bill 491. Please contact committee members and strongly urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 491.
Senate Bill 491 bans the importation, manufacture, sale, purchase, possession, or transfer of bump stocks and other “rapid-fire” devices. The broad and overreaching language could potentially criminalize firearm modifications such as competition triggers, and ergonomic changes that are commonly done by law-abiding gun owners to make their firearms more suitable for self-defense, competition, hunting, or even overcoming disability.
Please click the “Take Action” button above to contact members of the Senate Judiciary B Committee and strongly urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 491.
