On March 19, 2026, Vermont’s massive “omnibus” gun control bill was passed in the House with significant amendments and is now headed to the Senate Judiciary Committee. H.606 contains a wish list of gun control measures pushed nationally by anti-gun groups in the US. Please use the TAKE ACTION button below to urge senate committee members to oppose H. 606.
What started as a massive omnibus gun control bill has received significant amendments following engagement from the Second Amendment community during the committee hearing process. Changes include:
- Removal of Section 5, allowing the attorney general to circumvent the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, shielding the firearm industry from frivolous lawsuits.
- Removal of the ban on "rapid fire devices" contained in Section 4.
- Revisions to Section 4 on machine gun conversion devices, synchronizing state and federal definitions of certain National Firearm Act covered items.
Despite these changes, H. 606 remains problematic for gun owners. The legislation makes unnecessary changes and still expands the list of prohibited persons by including the recipients of certain outpatient mental health treatments.
NRA and Second Amendment supporters must stay engaged and continue contact lawmakers to oppose H. 606.
