Senate Bill 1243, a pro-gun bill sponsored by state Senator John Kavanagh (R-23), is currently pending a floor vote in the Senate. SB 1243 would make changes to existing law and expand the list of places where law-abiding gun owners can exercise their fundamental right to self-defense to include some additional public areas where certain security measures are not in place.

Additionally, House Bill 2287 has been scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Government Committee on Wednesday, March 1. After being amended on the House floor, HB 2287 would revise the culpable mental state for the unlawful discharge of a firearm from “criminal negligence” to “intentionally, knowingly or recklessly.” Please use the Request to Speak application (RTS) on the Arizona State Legislature website to urge the committee members to SUPPORT HB 2287.
