A masked man entered a Washington convenience store and immediately began swinging a hatchet, first targeting a customer and then attacking the store clerk. A concealed carry permit holder was also in the store and quickly responded to the attack by drawing his handgun and firing at the assailant, who was struck and killed.
The clerk suffered injuries to his stomach, but police credited the armed citizen with saving his life. Talking to local media, King County Sheriff Sergeant Cindi West stated "We believe had this Good Samaritan not acted, we might have a dead clerk on our hands right now."
