City Council on Dec. 8 had started the process of repealing its requirement that gun owners report lost or stolen weapons within 24 hours of discovering it.
The council began the process after its solicitor said a new state law could bring a flurry of lawsuits against the city. That new law, Act 192, took effect Monday.
