Indiana: School Security Reform Bill to be Considered on House Floor This Week

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

Contact your state Representative in support of Senate Bill 1 TODAY

Senate Bill 1, sponsored by state Senator Pete Miller (R-24), is expected to be considered on the House floor this week.  SB 1 would establish a School Resource Officer (SRO) program in schools and sets forth their duties and responsibilities.

It is important that you contact your state Representative and urge him or her to support SB 1.  Please let him or her know that this legislation would provide schools an effective asset in protecting our children and increasing safety.  Contact information for your state Representative can be found here.

The NRA would like to thank all state Senators who voted 43-7 for this critical reform on February 25, as well as state Representative Jim Lucas (R-69) who has been on the frontline as this bill has progressed through the state House.  Senator Pete Miller and Representative Jim Lucas are dedicated to enacting legislation that is designed to keep our schools and our children safe from future threats, and we are appreciative of their commitment to the cause.
