The NRA Goes to Bat for Washington Hunters

On September 19, attorneys for the NRA submitted a letter to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) requesting that they repeal the traditional (lead) ammunition ban.  You can review the full text of this letter by clicking here.

As mentioned in previous alerts, the WDFW has imposed a ban on the use of traditional ammunition for all upland bird hunting on all pheasant release sites statewide.  This restriction was adopted by the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission two years ago but its implementation was delayed until this hunting season.  The Commission adopted this restriction during the course of its 2010-2012 hunting season-setting process.

The NRA would like to thank everyone who participated in the first phase of the WDFW Commission’s 2012-2014 season-setting process by attending the public meetings and submitting comments regarding this traditional ammunition ban.  In January and March of 2012, the second phase of the season-setting process will allow for additional public input, and your participation in this phase will be crucial.  We will continue to keep you informed on our progress with the WDFW regarding this issue.
