Last year, lawmakers standardized the permitting process across the state’s 99 counties when it changed the statute dealing with carrying weapons. The law now requires a sheriff to issue a carry permit to anyone who qualifies under the law. Since then, some law enforcement groups have pushed for additional amendments on the law.
