A woman was working her first shift at the Quik Stop drive-thru convenience store in Flint, Mich., when a man approached the window and asked for a beer. When the clerk opened the drive-thru window the man jumped through the window, into the store and attempted to steal from the cash register. The clerk retrieved a gun and ordered the man out of the store, but when he didn’t comply she shot him, ending the robbery attempt. The criminal was later taken to local hospital where he died. A police investigation showed that the robber was on parole and had lengthy criminal history, including larceny and assault on a police officer. Neighbors and nearby business people have been supportive of the armed citizen, with one neighbor circulating an encouragement card to be signed by local businesses and given to the armed citizen.
