Town of South Kingstown, Rhode Island to Consider Zoning Ordinance Next Week

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

The South Kingstown Town Council will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the, “The Retail Trade of Firearms” portion of The Zoning Ordinance on Monday, April 12 at 7:30 P.M.

Your help is needed to fight these proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.
These amendments would put limitations and extra burdens on firearm retailers by limiting the locations where the businesses can operate, as well as requiring a special permit process in order to have the establishment in certain areas.

Firearm retailers in Rhode Island are already licensed by both the federal and state government and go through an extensive background check process.  The extra restrictions proposed by these amendments are unnecessary, burdensome and unfairly target one industry.

The meeting will be held in the South Kingstown Council Chambers in the Town Hall located at 180 High Street in Wakefield.

Please attend the hearing and voice your opposition to these anti-gun amendments in order to prevent them from becoming law.  If you are unable to attend, please contact the Town Council to respectfully urge them to oppose these proposed amendments.  Contact information can be found below.

All members can be reached via email at: towncouncil@southkingstownri.com
