Alabama’s “Worker Protection” Bill Defeated

Thursday, April 1, 2010

Please Contact the Members of the House Commerce Committee!

Earlier today, Thursday, April 1, House Bill 364 was defeated by the House Commerce Committee by a voice vote.  A roll call vote was requested but it was not seconded, thus defeating this important piece of legislation.

Sponsored by State Representative Craig Ford (D-28), this bill would have permitted a law-abiding individual to store a firearm in a locked motor vehicle while parked on a publicly accessible parking lot controlled by an employer or a business that he or she frequents.  HB364 would have protected your right to keep a firearm in your car for self-defense, hunting, or target shooting before or after work.

Please contact the members of the House Commerce Committee and respectfully express your disappointment that they did not pass HB364.
Contact information for the committee can be found below.
