Gun control is once again on the agenda for the U.S. Supreme Court. In 2008, the court struck down the District of Columbia's handgun ban, and in the landmark District of Columbia v. Heller decision, said the Second Amendment granted individuals the right to own a gun for self defense. But the District, of course, is a federal enclave. Now the court will consider the gun issue in terms of the states as it considers handgun laws in Chicago and a neighboring village.
