Governor Bobby Jindal (R) signed Senate Bill 52 into law on Thursday, July 9.
SB 52, sponsored by State Senator Robert Marionneaux (D-17), authorizes a “sales tax holiday” on firearms, hunting supplies, and ammunition purchased during the annual Second Amendment Holiday weekend. This three day tax holiday will begin on the first Friday in September. This year, the holiday will start on September 4. This law will not only benefit gun owners but will help promote business for firearms manufacturers and retailers.
Additionally, NRA would like to recognize State Representative Cameron Henry (R-82) for his efforts on similar legislation.
