They trained and practiced and fought to be the best in California, and next week the San Diego High School ROTC marksmanship team will compete against the sharpest high school shooters in the country at the National Junior Olympics.
This will be the team's second trip in three years to the National Junior Olympic Three-Position Air Rifle Championship. The team of two seniors, a junior and a sophomore should be on top of the world, but it isn't. It will be a bittersweet competition because, unless there is a dramatic change of position regarding guns by the San Diego Unified District School Board, this will be this team's last shot.
