As previously reported, House Bill 432 and House Bill 225 were transmitted to Governor Bob Riley after Sine Die on Friday, May 15. Currently, HB 432 continues to reside on the desk of Governor Bob Riley (R), were it awaits his consideration. HB 225 was signed into law on Wednesday, May 20.
Sponsored by State Representative Jack Page (D-29), HB 432 would make all records pertaining to pistol permits confidential, only to be used for law enforcement purposes. Any public disclosure of this information would be a Class A misdemeanor.
HB 225, sponsored by State Representative Marc Keahey (D-65), will protect our Second Amendment right by prohibiting any government agency from confiscating firearms or regulating the lawful sale, possession, transfer, transport or carry of firearms during a declared state of emergency, as occurred following Hurricane Katrina.
