Two pro-gun bills were signed by Governor Phil Bredesen (D) on Monday, April 27.
House Bill 46, sponsored by State Representative Joshua Evans (R-66), will prohibit the Department of Safety or any department-approved handgun safety employee from requiring carry permit applicants to provide identifying information about handguns the applicant owns or possesses.
House Bill 254, sponsored by State Representative Glen Casada (R-63), will delete the requirement to provide a thumbprint as part of the background check process when purchasing a firearm.
Thank you to fellow sponsors, State Senator Jim Tracy (R-16) and Republican Majority Leader, State Senator Mark Norris (R-32), for their hard work and dedication in passing these important pro-gun measures.
Also, thank you to all of the NRA members who took action in support of HB46 and HB254. Without you, these victories would not have been possible.
