Missouri: Castle Doctrine and Right-to-Carry Improvement Bill Moves Forward in the Missouri House!

Missouri's Castle Doctrine and Right-to-Carry improvement bill continues to make progress through the Missouri House of Representatives. House Bill 668, sponsored by State Representative Kenny Jones (R-117), would expand current Castle Doctrine protections up to and including a person's boundary lines, while lowering the legal age to receive Right-to-Carry permits from 23 to 21.

On Thursday, April 9, two notable amendments were added to HB 668. The first, offered by State Representative Brian Munzlinger (R-1), would expand Missouri's concealed carry provisions to include public colleges and university campuses. After much debate, the amendment passed by a vote of 106 to 41. The second notable amendment, offered by State Representative Scott Largent (R-120), would allow for the open carry of firearms and also passed by an overwhelming vote of 116 to 33. 

HB 668  now awaits final passage by the House before moving over to the Senate.
