Last week your calls and e-mails helped convince House Speaker Lawerence Denney (R-9) and the House Leadership to hear one final pro-gun bill this year, House Bill 287, the “Employer Liability Act.”
HB287 would encourage employers to allow their employees to store firearms in their vehicles at work by removing the employer’s liability for any accident related to a lawfully stored firearm. If the employer were to institute a policy that prohibits employees from storing lawfully owned firearms in their private vehicles while at work, they could still be held liable.
Please thank State Representative Jeff Thompson (R-33) who signed on as the House sponsor of the bill, without whom, this bill may not have had a chance this year. You can reach Representative Jeff Thompson (R-33) at [email protected].
Please continue to check your e-mail and www.nraila.org for any updates as HB 287 progresses through the legislature.
