House Bill 621 provides clarifying language to existing state statutes that the lawful carry of firearms is only prohibited inside courthouses. Local governments have been broadly interpreting language that prohibits firearms in court houses, to extend this prohibition to an entire building or complex, despite a court house only taking up a small portion. This legislation will remedy that ambiguity.
The right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right guaranteed to Idahoans by the 2nd Amendment and the Idaho State Constitution. It is time for Idaho to correct and clarify this law.
