On Thursday, March 26 the West Virginia Senate Judiciary unanimously passed Senate Bill 378. The bill now heads to the full Senate for consideration.
The bill would remove the requirement that licensees of other states be residents of that state. SB378 would also require that a potential reciprocating state's licensing standards be equal to or greater than that of West Virginia’s. Simply put, SB378 would grant West Virginia more leeway and freedom when recognizing other states’ standards for concealed handgun permit reciprocity.
SB378 would also remove the permit holder’s social security number from the actual permit as well as mandating that renewals of Right-to-Carry permits be approved within 45 days.
