Bill now heads to the Governor for final approval!
On Tuesday, March 10, a day after being passed unanimously in the House Judiciary Committee, the South Dakota House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 70 by a vote of 67 to 1. SB 70 will now head to the desk of Governor Mike Rounds (R) for his consideration.
Sponsored by State Senator Larry Rhoden (R-29), SB 70 would remove the mandatory post-purchase 48-hour waiting period that was previously in place for those who did not have a valid permit to carry a concealed handgun.
Thank you to all of the NRA members who contacted their legislators during this process and urged them to support this pro-gun reform.
