Please Contact Your State Senator and Encourage Them to Vote Yes on SB617 and SB708!
On January 21, the Virginia Senate Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources Committee passed two critically important measures that will greatly enhance hunting access and game management efforts in the Commonwealth.
Senate Bill 617, sponsored by Senator Ken Stolle (R-8), would establish an "apprentice" hunter-licensing program allowing new hunters to hunt accompanied by an experienced, licensed hunter in the field without being required to take a Hunters Education class beforehand. Also sponsored by Senator Stolle, Senate Bill 708 requires the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to incorporate into their regulations urban archery rules consistent with game preserve and controlled shooting operations. Both of these important bills could be heard on the Senate floor in the very near future.
