Maine Bill Introduced to Restrict Firearms Sales!

Friday, March 9, 2007

Legislative Document 361, Sponsored by State Representative Margaret Craven (D-74), "An Act To Create a Waiting Period for Firearms," has been scheduled for a work session on March 16 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 436 of the State House.  This legislation would mandate a 10-day waiting period for certain individuals who purchase firearms in Maine.

Maine is consistently among the most crime free states in the country.  Waiting periods do nothing to prevent criminals from obtaining firearms through illegal means and would only hinder law-abiding citizens!

Any changes to the current firearm background check system is not warranted.  Please call your State Representative at (207) 287-1400 and urge him or her to oppose this misguided legislation.
