New York: Nomination of Anti-Hunting, Anti-Gun Advocate Put on Hold!

Friday, March 2, 2007

The New York State Senate this week put "on hold" the nomination of Alexander "Pete" Grannis for Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner as it explores the mounting opposition to his confirmation.

NRA and other sportsmen's groups continue to lobby the Senate to block this nomination.  Any doubt of nominee Grannis's anti-gun, anti-sportsmen bias should be removed with his endorsement by New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, the leading anti-gun lobbying organization in the state.

As DEC Commissioner, Grannis would have the authority to make policy through regulatory means, bypassing consideration by your elected officials. These decisions could permanently impact hunters and gun owners in the Empire State.

Please continue to call your State Senator TODAY at (518) 455-2800 and urge him or her to oppose Pete Grannis’ nomination as DEC Commissioner. Be sure to politely remind him that a vote to approve Grannis is a vote against the Second Amendment and our hunting heritage!
