Louisiana - Hunting Constitutional Amendment To Appear On November 2004 Ballot

Tuesday, June 8, 2004

Monday, June 7, the House passed, on a vote of 92-0, SB 2 -- the NRA-backed Right To Hunt, Fish & Trap constitutional amendment.  The amendment will be on the November 2004 ballot for a vote by the people.  Special thanks to the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, which has been promoting this issue for the last 3 years, bill sponsor Sen. Joe McPherson (D-Woodworth) and Rep. Jack Smith (D-Franklin) who carried the bill on the House floor.
SB 837, the NRA-backed Right To Carry Reciprocity bill sponsored by Sen. James David Cain (R-Dry Creek), remains on the House Regular Calendar for final consideration, which could take place before the end of the week.  Please continue to contact your State Representatives and urge them to support HB 837.  You can find contact information for your Representatives using our "Write Your Representatives" feature.
