Colorado Preemption Bill To Be Heard In Senate

P>On Monday, January 13 the Judiciary Committee of the Colorado Senate passed Senate Bill 25. Sponsored by Senator Jim Dyer (R-26), SB 25 assigns firearm regulation authority solely to the Legislature, making gun laws uniform across the State of Colorado. This will bring to an end the confusing system Colorado currently has in place, under which cities and counties can make their own restrictive rules. What is common practice in one city may be illegal in another.

This is an important first step for Senate Bill 25, but the work is not over yet. This bill is scheduled for consideration by the senate on Monday, January 27. It is vital that you contact your state senator and tell them to support SB 25. You can also help by contacting your local officials. Some cities and counties with restrictive gun laws are opposing SB 25. Contact your City Council or County Commission and let them know that the current system is unfair to hunters and anyone else who travels with a firearm.
