The North Carolina Legislature is currently considering legislation that would prohibit "reckless" and politically motivated lawsuits against the lawful firearms industry. This year, there is a great opportunity to pass a law, however, the legislation has been amended with a provision that would shut down gunshows.
NRA is working to remove the anti-gunshow language and pass legislation that will protect the gun industry from lawsuits designed to send it into bankruptcy. But, your help is needed immediately to ensure that your lawmaker votes for a clean "reckless" lawsuit preemption law.
The hearing, by the House Judiciary Committee III, on this bill has been delayed until Thursday, July 26th. Please call your representative at (919) 733-5849 FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING and ask him/her to support SB 680 without the gunshow provision. Tell your representative that you support lawsuit preemption but oppose any provision regulating gunshows.
