San Dimas, Calif., jeweler Joe Ridley was visiting with an
elderly friend when two holdup men entered the store, grabbed the
customer and broke in a display case. As the criminals headed for
the door, Ridley grabbed a .22 revolver and shot one dead. The man
had been paroled from prison just two months before.
Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the "lobbying" arm of the National Rifle Association of America.
