San Dimas, Calif., jeweler Joe Ridley was visiting with an elderly friend when two holdup men entered the store, grabbed the customer and broke in a display case. As the criminals headed for the door, Ridley grabbed a .22 revolver and shot one dead. The man had been paroled from prison just two months before.
