A pair of hoodlums invaded William Baney's Salem, Oreg., home and demanded loot. As one criminal held a straight razor to the throat of Baney's wife, his partner menaced the homeowner with a knife. The 64-year-old Baney ran to his bedroom, grabbed a gun and opened fire, killing one of the pair and putting the other to flight.
