Lester Frierson was in the rear of the North St. Louis, Mo., restaurant he manages when he noticed an armed robbery in progress. Frierson grabbed a revolver and ordered the gunman not to move. When the robber instead aimed his gun at him, Frierson fired. The would-be robber dropped to the floor and then crawled from the restaurant on his hands and knees, escaping into the night.
