Oregon: Senate Floor Action on Ballot Measure 114 IMMINENT!

Oregon: Senate Floor Action on Ballot Measure 114 IMMINENT!

The Senate has again waived the rules and moved up the Floor vote on House Bill 4145 to TODAY. A vote on third reading is imminent.

In a new development to get the bill across the finish line, a -A9 Amendment was passed in the Rules Committee that gutted many of the previous provisions. HB 4145 now moves the implementation date of Ballot Measure 114 to January 1, 2028, and includes a legislative intent section that only applies to avoiding conflict with the court case in the Oregon Supreme Court. Passage of this bill, even with the -A9 Amendment, signals legislative approval of the unconstitutional provisions of Ballot Measure 114.

It is still possible for anti-gun legislators to amend HB 4145 and return all of the previous provisions to the bill! Please contact your Senator NOW and urge them to OPPOSE HB 4145 on the floor by using the TAKE ACTION button below.

Ballot Measure 114 has been subject to several legal challenges since narrowly passing, receiving just 50.1% of the vote in 2022. NRA's legal challengeEyre v. Rosenblum, remains active in the 9th Circuit.  HB 4145 is an attempt by the legislature to override the will of the voters and superimpose additional gun control measures. HB 4145 will do nothing to address criminal misuse of firearms, but instead will escalate costs and bureaucratic red tape for law-abiding gun owners.

There are only three days left in the 2026 legislative session! Stay engaged and stay tuned for more alerts to oppose this bill that will make lawful ownership of firearms so costly and burdensome that criminal possession will become the only reality.
