Michigan: House Committee Advances Hunter Education Bill

 

 

Today, the House Natural Resources and Tourism Committee voted to pass House Bill 4285, creating a pathway for hunter education to be taught in Michigan schools. This bill is now eligible for a vote on the House floor. Please use the Take Action button below to contact House members and voice your support for this important legislation.


HB 4285 directs the state to develop and distribute a firearm safety curriculum to Michigan schools, available to students in grades 6–12. This voluntary program would teach responsible firearm handling, cleaning and maintenance, and safe hunting practices. Students who complete the program would earn their Hunter Safety Certification, empowering them with the knowledge and responsibility that comes with firearm ownership and outdoor stewardship.
