Today, the Senate Executive Committee will hear SB 8, a bill to expand storage requirements and greatly increase penalties resulting in fines up to $10,000. Please use the Take Action link to contact committee members and ask them to oppose SB 8!
SB 8 requires individuals to lock up all firearms in their home, vehicles, buildings or other structures. Under current law, individuals are required to safely store firearms in areas not accessible to anyone under 14, this legislation increases the age to 18 and includes prohibited persons and “at risk” individuals. This legislation makes law-abiding citizens responsible for the actions of criminals and subjects them to civil fines, even if they did their best to comply with the law.
