On February 7th, Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed former Grand Rapids Mayor, George Heartwell, to chair the Natural Resources Commission. While mayor, George Hartwell was a member of one of New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun groups. He has since taken on the role of state membership coordinator for another one of Bloomberg’s anti-gun groups and has also publicly called for bans on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines. The Natural Resources Commission has the exclusive authority to regulate the taking of game and fish in Michigan. If confirmed to chair this commission, Heartwell will follow his billionaire backer and do what he can to harass and hinder gun owners and sportsmen. Please contact your state Senator and ask them to OPPOSE this appointment.
