Bloomberg-backed Lawmakers in House of Delegates Out of Control

Fairfax, Va - The Virginia House of Delegates spent barely an hour debating a series of extreme gun control measures that Bloomberg-backed lawmakers rushed through the Public Safety Committee last week. All public testimony and questions were limited to just three minutes in Committee, and debate on the floor was repeatedly cut short.

Virginians have a reasonable expectation that bills restricting Second Amendment rights be thoughtfully considered and thoroughly debated. Instead, bill patrons made numerous mistakes, including misrepresenting their bills and even lacking a basic understanding of how their legislation will impact Virginians.

“Bloomberg politicians in the House of Delegates are out of control and running roughshod over our rights,” said Catherine Mortensen, NRA spokesperson. “The House of Delegates has rushed through a package of unvetted legislation that targets law-abiding Virginians. Bloomberg lawmakers are misrepresenting their gun control bills, shutting down debate, and displaying utter distain for the fundamental rights of their constituents. Virginians deserve better."
