An attempted burglary took a turn when a burglar was shot by the victim, police said.
The burglar was found shot near the intersection of Barnum Avenue and Central Avenue around 5:20 p.m., police spokesman Av Harris said. The attempted burglary took place in the 900 block of Kossuth Street, Harris said, about one mile from where one burglar was found shot.
Harris said initial reports came back that the victim of the attempted burglary was shot, but that has since been clarified. He said the “victim (of the attempted burglary) shot one of the burglars.”
The burglar that was shot was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, Harris said. He said a second burglar was apprehended and is in police custody.
No further information was available Thursday evening because of the ongoing investigation.
