Yesterday, the Senate passed an amended version of House Bill 3429 and the House unanimously concurred. H. 3429 will now go to Governor Henry McMaster (R) for his consideration.
H. 3429 is a pro-gun bill introduced by state Representative Alan Clemmons (R-107). This is NRA-supported legislation that seeks to amend South Carolina’s bankruptcy laws and recognize the fundamental right to personal protection by ensuring citizens who have fallen on hard times, financially, will not be required to sell all of their firearms maintained for personal protection in order to satisfy their debts. H. 3429 was amended in subcommittee and would allow for the retention of any type of firearm, up to a total of three, provided the total value does not exceed $3,000.00.
