Liquor store manager shoots suspect during attempted robbery

Police confirm to KFDM that a manager of Gulf Street Liquor in Beaumont shot a man who tried to rob the store at 3020 Gulf at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday. The suspect and manager were the only ones in the store at the time. The suspect was shot in the lower body. Beaumont Fire Dispatch tells us he was taken by EMS as a Priority 1 emergency patient to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth. Police say the injuries aren't life threatening. The manager told KFDM the suspect was acting suspiciously and waited until everyone left before telling the manager to "give me all your money." The manager told KFDM reporter Peter Eliopoulos he felt threatened and shot the man. The manager told Peter, "I did what I had to do. He's not leaving the store with any money."
