Yesterday, Senate Bill 858, introduced by state Senator Jason Rapert (R-35), passed in the state House by a unanimous 83-0 vote, with 16 not voting and 1 voting present. This important reform would establish that Arkansas recognize any valid Right-to-Carry permit issued by another state, which replaces the current conditional reciprocity standard. This change would not only benefit concealed carry permit holders in other states, but it will also make it more likely that other states will recognize Arkansas’ carry permit so that one’s inherent right to self-defense does not end at state lines.
SB 858 now goes to Governor Mike Beebe (D) for his consideration.
Please contact Governor Beebe, thank him for signing into law numerous pro-gun bills this year and urge him to sign SB 858 as well.
