A homeowner in Toledo, Ohio was awakened by his wife at around 1 a.m. after she noticed someone turning the lights on and off in their bedroom. After retrieving a gun, the homeowner went to investigate, came upon a home invader and shot him. The criminal was struck twice and is recovering at a local hospital.

The homeowner’s child was also in the house at the time of the incident. The armed citizen credits the child’s safety to the family emergency plan he and his wife prepared for just such situations, and encourages other families to take the time to prepare their own. (WTVG, Toledo, Ohio 04/07/12)
