On April 11, Senate Bill 26 passed in the House Judiciary Committee where it was revised back to its original form limiting it to only states of emergency. This bill is now in the House Rules Committee awaiting House Floor consideration.
Sponsored by state Senator David Shafer (R-48), SB 26 would protect our Second Amendment rights by prohibiting any government agency from confiscating or regulating the lawful sale, possession, transfer, transport and carry of firearms during a state of emergency, such as occurred in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
